Communications Considered Ltd, trading as Editorial Bureau ("we", "us"), is the controller of any personal data collected through this website. This notice explains what we collect, why, and what your rights are. It is written to be read.
What we collect and own
If you email us or use the contact form, we receive your name, email address, and whatever you write to us. We use it to reply and to keep a record of the conversation if it leads to work.
Our hosting provider records standard server logs — IP address, browser type, pages requested, time of visit — for security and to keep the site running.
The fonts on this site are served from our own server. Nothing is loaded from a third-party font service, so no data about you is sent to one.
We do not buy, sell, or share visitor data. We do not profile anyone or make automated decisions about them.
Why we are allowed to
UK data protection law requires a lawful basis for each use:
1. Replying to your enquiry and managing a working relationship — our legitimate interest in running the business, or the steps needed to enter a contract with you.
2. Server logs and security — our legitimate interest in keeping the site secure.
Who else sees it
1. Our hosting provider, GoDaddy, who process data on our instructions.
2. Our email provider, Google.
3. Professional advisers (accountants, lawyers) where necessary, and authorities where the law requires it.
Where any of these are outside the UK, we rely on the UK's adequacy decisions or standard contractual clauses to protect the data.
How long we keep it
Correspondence: as long as the conversation or working relationship is live, and for six years afterwards where it relates to a contract, because HMRC and the Limitation Act expect it. Server logs: 30 days, then deleted. Enquiries that go nowhere: 12 months, then deleted.
Cookies
This site sets no cookies beyond those strictly necessary for it to work.
Your rights
You can ask us to tell you what we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, to restrict how we use it, to hand it to you in a portable form, or to stop processing it where we rely on legitimate interests. We will respond within one month.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. We would rather you told us first.
Changes
We will update this notice if what we collect or how we use it changes. The date at the top tells you when it was last revised.
